After clashing Evil Dead Rise with Salman Khans Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ka Jaan Warner Bros to now clash The Nun II with Shah Rukh Khans Jawan

After Pathaan (2023) emerged as an all-time blockbuster, moviegoers and the industry are eagerly waiting for Shah Rukh Khan’s next release, Jawan. It was supposed to arrive in cinemas on June 2. But the wait got longer and it’ll now release on September 7. It turns out that Jawan won’t get a solo release.

Yesterday, on July 6, Warner Bros announced that they’ll be releasing their much-awaited horror film, The Nun II, in the same week as Jawan. The Nun II will release in cinemas in India on Friday, September 8 and will be screened not just in the original English version but also in the dubbed Hindi, Telugu and Tamil versions.

Interestingly, this is the second time this year that the Hollywood studio is clashing its horror scare fest with a big Hindi film starring a Khan. On April 21, it released Evil Dead Rise and hence, they clashed it with Salman Khan’s Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan. Despite the clash, the horror film managed to get sufficient screens and collected a huge Rs. 36.50 crores, surprising trade and industry alike.

Hence, a lot of expectations are riding on The Nun II since it belongs to the The Conjuring Universe franchise which has worked big time in India. In fact, the previous part, The Nun (2018), had amassed Rs. 46.46 crores.

A trade expert observed, “The Nun II will manage reasonable screen count despite the clash of Jawan, which is also releasing in multiple languages. It then won’t have competition till Salaar that arrives in theatres on September 28. Hence, if word of mouth is positive, The Nun II can turn out to be a huge grosser.”

The Nun II also releases worldwide on September 8. It is directed by Michael Chaves who also made the last part of this series, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (2021).

Jawan, meanwhile, stars Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi and Sanya Malhotra besides Shah Rukh Khan. It is directed by Atlee and releases on a Thursday to take advantage of the Janmashtami holiday.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali to redesign Heeramandi set for Baiju Bawra; work to kick off in September 2023

Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali is, at the moment, busy with the last schedule of his upcoming series Heeramandi. The series marks his digital debut on Netflix. The filmmaker plans to wrap up the project by August. Following this, he will begin work on his next ambitious project, Baiju Bawra. For the same, rumours are rife that Bhansali has roped in his favourite Ranveer Singh, with whom he has done three films, and Alia Bhatt, who starred in last year’s success Gangubai Kathiawadi.

For Baiju Bawra, Heeramandi set will be redesigned in Film City in Mumbai. As per a report in Mid-Day, a source revealed, “An art team is on standby to kick off work on it by September. The Heeramandi set will be reimagined for Baiju Bawra. The film will roll by the year-end or early 2024.” While Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh’s casting is yet not confirmed by the makers, the director is confident that the two stars are the perfect choice for the roles.

Coming back to Heeramandi, the star cast includes Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sharmin Segal, and Sanjeeda Sheikh was revealed. The series explores the cultural reality of Heeramandi, a dazzling district, through the stories of courtesans and their patrons set against the tumultuous backdrop of the Indian freedom struggle of the 1940s. The publication revealed that two songs are left to shoot which are integral for the storyline. The filmmaker is directing it himself and plans to wrap up the series by next month.

Prabhas Deepika Padukone and Kamal Haasan to launch Project K teaser at San Diego Comic Con 2023

In one of the latest developments, Project K makers are going big for the teaser launch of the movie. Starring Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone and Kamal Haasan, the exclusive footage will be premiered at San Diego Comic-Con 2023 (SDCC).

The SDCC celebration will commence with an exciting panel featuring special guests Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan, Superstars Prabhas and Deepika Padukone alongside the National award-winning director Nag Ashwin, on the 20th of July. During this panel, the creators of Project K will unveil the film’s title, trailer, and release date, treating the audience to a truly immersive experience on Comic-Con’s grandest stage.

Expressing his delight about this exclusive event, director Nag Ashwin said, “India is the home of some of the greatest lore and superheroes ever written. We feel that our film is an attempt to bring out and share this with the world. And Comic-Con gives us the perfect stage to introduce our story to a global audience.”

Aditya Roy Kapur Anil Kapoor starrer The Night Manager becomes the most watched Hotstar Specials

Aditya Roy Kapur, Anil Kapoor starrer The Night Manager (Part 1 and 2) emerges as the most watched series across all Hotstar Specials on Disney+ Hotstar. The biggest showdown of the year between two high-powered characters of the series – ‘The notorious arms dealer Shelly Rungta and an accidental spy Shaan Sengupta’ seems to have left a mark among the OTT lovers.

A Hindi-language adaptation of John le Carré’s novel ‘The Night Manager’ produced by The Ink Factory and Banijay Asia, the series is created and directed by Sandeep Modi and second director Priyanka Ghose. The series is known for its lavish drama, picturesque sights and features Anil Kapoor, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sobhita Dhulipala, Tillotama Shome, Saswata Chatterjee and Ravi Behl in lead roles.

EXCLUSIVE: Ameesha Patel shocked after learning that Anil Sharma cast an actress from a B grade movie in Gadar 2

In an unexpected turn of events, actress Ameesha Patel and director Anil Sharma found themselves at loggerheads over the highly anticipated sequel to the blockbuster film Gadar: Ek Prem Katha titled Gadar 2. A source close to Ameesha has revealed that the actress was taken aback upon learning certain details about the project, leading to heated arguments and creative differences with Sharma.

It all started when Ameesha came to know that Sharma has signed an actress who has given sleazy scenes in a B grade movie, whose video she came across, in a film like Gadar 2. She is cast in the movie opposite Utkarsh Sharma, who plays Ameesha and Sunny Deol’s son.

A source close to the actress told Bollywood Hungama, “Yes, Ameesha was quite shocked since knowing her attachment for the brand Gadar and her respect for Sunny. She kept insisting to the director to do full justice to the sequel since fans are expecting a lot and when she came to know that the girl they have signed opposite Utkarsh named Simrat has done such work then that shocked her. She was shocked to know that Anil Sharma could cast such an actress opposite Utkarsh and that too in a film like Gadar 2. That’s where the differences started happening. She and Anil Sharma used to argue at times. Her creative thoughts were matching with that of Zee and Sunny but not with Anil Shrama. In fact, Zee team also has had many issues with the director in the last 16 months, but all are now forced on giving the audiences a great film and that’s all that matters.”

Recently, Ameesha had also alleged delay in payment for some technicians who had worked on Gadar 2. She had written on Twitter, “Another concern of fans has been about certain incidents regarding Anil Sharma Productions to have taken place in regards to the final schedule of Gadar 2 that took place end May in Chandigarh!! There were certain queries that many technicians like makeup artists, costume designers, and others, etc. did not receive their rightful remuneration and dues from Anil Sharma Productions!! Yes, they did not!! But @ZeeStudios_ stepped in and made sure all dues were settled as they are a very professional company.”

The highly anticipated teaser for Gadar 2 has been released. It is an upcoming action-drama film, which is directed and produced by Anil Sharma, with the story penned by Shaktimaan Talwar. Serving as a sequel to the 2001 film Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, the movie stars Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel, and Utkarsh Sharma in the lead roles.

Hrithik Roshan Saif Ali Khan starrer Vikram Vedha to have its world television premiere on July 9

Ranveer Singh gets a birthday gift from Sanjay Leela Bhansali; bags the titular role in Baiju Bawra

Ranveer Singh is now finalized to play the eponymous role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Baiju Bawra. There were whispers after the back-to-back failure of two Ranveer starrers Jayeshbhai Jordaar and Cirkus that Bhansali was reconsidering his decision to cast Ranveer in his most ambitious musical drama.

But a source close to the epic filmmaker has completely debunked this rumour. “For SLB, it was always Ranveer and Alia for Baiju Bawra. Ranveer was the first choice for the title role in Baiju Bawra after Padmaavat. People advised Bhansali to cast someone else as he had already done three back-to-back films with Ranveer. But to Bhansali, it doesn’t matter how many times the actors have worked with him or whether the actor’s films have succeeded or not. Although Bhansali has signed the Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani pair, Ranveer and Alia, he is not holding his breath to see that film do well. For Bhansali, the casting of Baiju Bawra is not reliant on the success of Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.”

On July 6 (today), as Ranveer turned a year older, it was finally confirmed that Ranveer will do his fourth film with Bhansali. We can’t wait to see the magic the director-actor partnership will generate this time.

Heres the truth about Shah Rukh Khans injury in Los Angeles

Dramatic stories of Shah Rukh Khan’s “nose injury” in Los Angeles have been occupying primetime status. Now we have the truth from one of SRK’s closest friends.

There was no nose injury in LA for SRK. “It was not an injury. It was a dislocated septum (the nose bridge) which was causing SRK problems in breathing for some time. He just couldn’t get the time to get it fixed. Finally, it happened in LA. It was a simple procedure, no bleeding, no wounds. Now, he’s back in Mumbai,” said the friend.

A dislocated septum is a very common occurrence, especially among those who are physically active. Even a slight disturbance to the nose can cause the septum to be dislocated. Ranbir Kapoor also had his septum fixed some years ago.

On the work front, Shah Rukh Khan was last seen in Siddharth Anand’s directorial venture Pathaan earlier this year. Produced by Aditya Chopra’s Yash Raj Films, the spy action movie, which also starred John Abraham, Deepika Padukone, Dimple Kapadia and Ashutosh Rana, became a runaway success at the box office and it marked SRK’s comeback after four years.

Shah Rukh will now be seen in Jawan, which is slated to release on September 7. Directed by Atlee Kumar, the film also stars Vijay Sethupathi, Nayanthara and Sanya Malhotra.

CONFIRMED: Kartik Aaryan starrer Chandu Champion has a special connection with the late Sushant Singh Rajput

Readers may recall that, lately, Bollywood Hungama is constantly sharing the latest update on Kartik Aaryan and Kabir Khan’s upcoming film, Chandu Champion. In a surprising revelation, it has been discovered that the upcoming sports drama has a connection with the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput.

As per a well-placed industry source,  the film is based on a concept that the late Sushant Singh Rajput was working on prior to his unfortunate demise. “Sushant had expressed his commitment to another sports biopic, which is now being revived in the form of Chandu Champion. Rajput had shown great interest in portraying the remarkable life of Murlikant Petkar, an army veteran and accomplished sportsperson with physical challenges”, reveals the source. Continuing further the source reveals, “Now, Kartik has taken on the responsibility of portraying the inspiring character of Murlikant Petkar. In fact, Kartik is fully dedicated to the role and is working relentlessly to prepare for it. He is undergoing extensive training in various sports associated with the character to ensure authenticity and bring the story to life on the silver screen”.

For the unversed, Murlikant Petkar had achieved significant milestones, winning a Gold Medal at the Commonwealth Games in 1970 and the Paralympics in Germany in 1972. The untitled project caught Sushant’s attention in 2016 when he was deeply moved by the story’s narration.

The film is slated to release on Eid 2024, which is June 14.

Meanwhile, Kartik is currently basking in the success of his recently released film, SatyaPrem Ki Katha, co-starring Kiara Advani and helmed by Sameer Vidwans.

Vikrant Massey starrer 12th Fail to release in theatres on October 27 this year

Actor Vikrant Massey was last seen in Mumbaikar, a film starring Vijay Sethupathi and released on JioCinema. The actor has a bunch of projects in his kitty, including Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba. Amid the buzz, the makers of his other upcoming film, 12th Fail, have announced its release date. Helmed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, the film will be released in theatres on October 27.

Making the official announcement of the same, Zee Studios took to their social media handle and wrote, “’Transformative’, ‘hard-hitting’ and ‘deeply moving’ — 12th Fail is being described as one of the most important films ever made in India. An absolute must watch! 12th Fail releases in cinemas worldwide on 27th October.”

For the unversed, the upcoming flick is adapted from Anurag Pathak’s bestselling novel of the same name. It is inspired by the true story of Manoj Kumar Sharma, a village boy from an impoverished background who failed in his 12th standard exams. However, with his passion and determination, he became an IPS officer.

When the film was announced, Vikrant had said, “It’s the tragedy of our times that honesty and sincerity are a rarity. This film is a dedication to all the students who dream, and to all the honest officers who are the backbone of our country and constitution. Working with VVC is a dream come true and a huge challenge since he’s such a thorough director,” in a statement.
